Qigong and home: space for movement, breath and attention

By

Attilio La Manna

An introduction to Qigong and the practical questions to ask when making space for a personal movement practice.

Understand the practice

NCCIH describes Qigong as a Chinese practice bringing together posture, movement, breathing and attention. Different schools use different sequences. This introduction does not teach a complete sequence.

Keep tradition and evidence clear

In Attilio’s personal approach, Qi is a traditional reference for cultivating presence and vitality. Spiritual language expresses a cultural perspective; it does not establish a measurable medical energy or promise healing.

Look at the space you have

Consider a clear floor area, stable footing and enough room for your intended movements. Move furniture only when safe. A comfortable seated practice may be worth discussing with a qualified instructor; choose adaptations for your own situation rather than copying a social-media demonstration.

Bring the question into your search

Where would you practice? Is there privacy, shade outdoors and convenient storage? Note what is available and what requires permission. Ask an instructor about suitable practice and a healthcare professional about relevant health limitations. Get2Living connects these personal priorities to the practical choice of a home.
